Gina Alexis Rodriguez LoCicero, also known as Gina Rodriguez is an actress and television producer of American nationality. She is best known for her portrayal of the lead role of Jane Villanueva, on The CW romantic drama comedy TV series known as Jane the Virgin, which aired from 2014 to 2019. She received a Golden Globe Award in the year 2015 for her portrayal of Jane. Gina Rodriguez was born on 30 July in the year 1984, in Chicago, Illinois, United States of America (USA), and was raised in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood, located on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Her parents are from Puerto Rico and their names are Gino and Magali Rodriguez. She has an older brother and two sisters. She was raised as a Catholic and attended the high school at St. Ignatius College Prep. When she was seven years old, Gina learned the salsa dance at Fantasia Juvenil dance company and continued dancing till the age of 17. The show is based loosely on the Venezuelan telenovela named Juana la virgin, which was created by Perla Farias. The show premiered on 13 October 2014 and ended on 31 July 2019. The show is produced by Ben Silverman, Gary Pearl, Jorge Granier, Meredith Averill, Gina Lamar, and Sean Canino. Jane the Virgin is set in Miami and details the dramatic events that unfold in the life of Jane Villanueva, who is a young religious Venezuelan- American woman, who loves to write. Awake is a sci-fi thriller film of American origin that is directed by Mark Raso and written by Joseph Raso and Mark Raso.
