Gladys Berejiklian, the 45th Premier of New South Wales, is an Australian politician. She is also the leader of the New South Wales Liberal Party. She joined the office after Mike Baird resigned in 2017. Since 2003, Gladys has represented the seat of Willoughby as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly.
Gladys Berejiklian Early Life

Gladys Berejiklian was born on the 22nd of September in 1970. Her place of birth is Sydney, Australia. She is of Armenian descent as her parents had immigrated from there. She went to North Ryde High School also known as Peter Board High School. Her other educational qualifications are a Bachelor of Arts degree, a diploma in International Studies from the University of Sydney, and a Masters in Commerce from the University of New South Wales. She became the third female president of New South Wales Young Liberals. Apart from politics, Gladys has also served as a general manager in the Commonwealth Bank. She has also worked in Government & Industry Affairs and Youth Retail Banking. That’s why she recognizes herself as a politician as well as a banker.

In a shocking revelation, it was revealed that Gladys Berejiklian was in a relationship with the former MP Daryl Maguire around 2018. It came to light that they were so in love and even discussed marriage some time into the future and also children. Recently in 2021, Gladys’ younger sister Mary revealed in an Instagram post that Gladys Berejiklian is seeing Arthur Moses. Gladys Berejiklian Armenian Background:

Gladys revealed that her grandparents were orphaned in 1915 in the Armenian genocide by Turkish soldiers. And her parents are Armenian immigrants. Only at the age of five did she start learning English, before that she only spoke Armenian. She has served a term in the Armenian National Committee of Australia. She also attended the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide held in Yerevan in 2015. Gladys also regularly attends events organized by the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Political Career:
In 2003, Gladys ran for the Liberal preselection of Willoughby when the former opposition leader had decided to retire and won. Though she faced a tough challenge from the longtime mayor of the City of Willoughby, Pat Reilly, she won by 144 votes.
In 2005, she was chosen as the Shadow Minister for Mental Health, and the following year Peter Debnam appointed her to the opposition front bench portfolio of Transport. The next year, she was given the Shadow portfolio of Citizenship in the Shadow Ministry by the opposition Leader.
In 2011, when the O’Farrell government was elected, she was appointed as the Transport Minister. The major highlights during her term were an extension of the Sydney Light Rail Dulwich Hill Line which extended from Lilyfield to Dulwich Hill and the construction of the North West Rail Link. They also successfully introduced Opal Cards.
In 2014, New South Wales Liberal Party elected Mike Baird as the new leader, and Gladys Berejiklian was elected as his deputy. When the ministerial reshuffle occurred, Gladys was also named as the Minister for the Hunter. After the state election in 2015, Premier Baird announced a cabinet reshuffle, and thus Gladys was announced as the Treasurer of New South Wales along with Minister for Industrial Relations. As her duty as a Treasurer, she made sure that New South Wales’ returns were surplus. This move made New South Wales debt-free for the first time in more than 20 years. She even oversaw that the state’s electricity network was partly privatized.
