One of the finest championship horse riders, let’s take a look at her early life. Amberley was born in 1991. She is the second oldest of her five siblings and was born to parents Tina and Cory Snyder. Amberley has been riding a horse since the age of three years! And participated in her first rodeo at age seven. Her interest in this world continued growing with her age and soon she started barrel racing, pole bending, and breakaway roping on the summer break.
Amberley Snyder’s Career And The Accident That Changed Her Life
Having started riding at such a young age, Amberley also started competing in events from a pretty young age. In 2009, Amberley won the All-Around Cowgirl World Championship in the National Little Britches Rodeo Association. Not only that, her amazing rodeo skills made her the Utah State FFA President from 2009 to 2010. In 2010, her life was changed forever after a devastating car crash. While driving back from Utah and on her way to the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado she didn’t fasten her seat belts, and in a moment of distraction, her car swerved off the road.
This caused her to be thrown off the truck and she got slammed into a fence post. The impact shattered her twelfth thoracic vertebrae and she became paralyzed from the waist down. This was the most devastating time of her life. Amberley almost gave up all hopes of riding a horse ever again. But with all the support from her mother and her siblings, she regained her willpower and a lot of physiotherapies and with a seat belt on her saddle, she resumed riding after a year and a half.
Amberley Snyder’s Life After Recovery
With all the good wishes, support, and love from her family, friends, and fans, Amberley quickly got back up on her feet. She started riding her horse again and even participated in competitions. In 2015, she received a fan exemption to participate in RFD-TV’s The American Rodeo at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Even though Amberley Snyder could not win, she made a time of 15.3 seconds just 0.6 seconds less than the winning time. Following this, in 2016, Amberley came within the top five in the Rocky Mountain Pro Rodeo Association.
She also went on to win her Women’s Professional Rodeo Association card. After overcoming all the hardships in her life, Amberley Snyder now competes in the RAM Wilderness Circuit. Apart from her riding career, she now also makes weekly videos called “Wheelchair Wednesday”. The videos depict how everyday normal tasks have become more challenging for her. This is to inspire and motivate all her fans who are going through a similar phase in their lives. Amberley has also authored a children’s book called Walk Ride Rodeo.
