But today, we will talk about the storyline and other details of Gintama so that all the confusion is over. It is very certain that the Gintama manga is actually over, and it ended a long time ago, in 2019. No new manga editions will be released anytime soon. As of 2022, it can be said with certainty that the anime has also ended.
The anime started covering the final and longest arc of the story in 2018. After that, in January 2021, a movie was released titled Gintama: The Final. The movie covered the last twenty or so chapters of the manga and ended the story finally. But then again, in January 2021, two special anime series were released to fill the gap between the original series and the movie. Two episodes of the anime special titled Gintama: The Semi-Final acted as a bridge between the movie and the series. So it is very certain that Gintama is over. All the chapters in the manga have been covered, and the story has been completed. So fans can rest assured that no new episodes or movies of Gintama will be released any time soon.

Storyline of Gintama
The plot of Gintama is based on science fiction and focuses on an alternate world in the late Edo period. Aliens called Amanto attack Earth in this alternate world. And brave samurais fight to protect the world from the aliens coming from the sky. However, the leader of the samurai, the shōgun, turns out to be a coward and gives up on the fight. He makes a new rule that prevents samurai from carrying their swords in public so that the alien invaders come to earth without any contest. Based on this timeline and background, the story of Gintama starts.
The protagonist of the story is a brave and eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata. He roams around places and does freelance jobs to sustain himself. One day he helps Shinpachi Shimura by saving his sister Tae from a group of aliens. Being forever grateful to Gintoki for this, Shinpachi follows him on his freelancing job. The duo comes across a teenage alien girl Kagura on their journey and saves her too. Thus begins the adventures of the trio as they go on various freelancing adventures and also fight the evil and corrupt system and aliens. The true immortal alien, Utsuro, is introduced in the story, who is the real antagonist of the story.
Gintoki and his companions must team up with both their friends and enemies to take down Utsuro. Are they successful? To know that, you have to watch anime and movies. In the movie, there is an epic fight between Gintoki, Shinpachi, Kagura, and the ultimate villain, Utsuro. Takasugi also plays an important factor in this fight while destroying Utsuro. Even though at first, Takasugi seems to be the enemy, you can understand his sacrifice by the end of the movie.
