It was first published in North America.

There are a total of 24 episodes in this series. This is a story about a 17-year-old male named Shinichi Izumi who is a high school student. He is peacefully living his life and lives with his parents in a quiet neighbourhood which is in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan. Unfortunately, Shinichi gets partially infected by a parasyte who has come to earth and is a monster that kills and consumes human beings. Shinichi must learn to survive by being both a monster and a human and has to co-exist with the parasyte if he wants to survive. This is the main plot of the story.
