In Southeast Asia, the anime series is broadcast on the Animax Asia network channel. Land of the Lustrous anime series received positive reviews from critics, who praised the writing, 3D animation, and the characters of the series. The series has received numerous awards and nominations, particularly for its graphics and visual effects. Season one of the Land of the Lustrous anime series premiered on 7 October in the year 2017 and ended on 23 December in the year 2017 after 12 episodes. The release date for season two of Land of the Lustrous is not yet announced since the show has not been renewed for a second season. It is unlikely that the show will get renewed for a second season since it has been 5 years since the end of season one. There has been no indication from the creators of the series that a second season is in development.

Land of the Lustrous Season 2 Story
The events of Land of the Lustrous are set in the distant future in a land that is occupied by immortal and mystical life forms known as the Lustrous, who resemble precious gemstones. There are a total of 28 Lustrous that are led by their teacher named Kongo, and together, they fight to defend themselves against the Lunarians, who appear once every few days to kill the Lustrous and harvest their bodies for decoration. Phosphophyllite, also known as Phos, is currently 300 years old and is the youngest member of the Lustrous. Due to their young age, these Lustrous are brittle and are unable to fight against the Lunarians, and as a result, they feel useless and demotivated. However, their leader Kongo gives the young Lustrous the task of assembling a natural history. While searching for information that they can assemble in the book of natural history, Phos comes across a night watch named Cinnabar, who is poisonous and poses a threat to other Lustrous therefore he lives in isolation. Phos becomes upset at Cinnabar’s story and vows to find him a better-suited job.
