Young Dolph first released a mixtape ‘Paper Route Campaign’ when all his friends encouraged him, in 2008. This good popularity at the local level and he decided to invest fully into rap. After two years, in 2010, he formally established his label ‘Paper Route Empire’. It is an independent record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels. After establishing his label he released his mainstream mixtape ‘Welcome 2 Dolph World’ which was hosted by Atlanta DJ DJ Scream with features from 8Ball & MJG (an American hip hop duo from Memphis, Tennessee), 2 Chainz (an American rapper whose actual name is Tauheed K. Epps), and in-house artists Tim Gates and Money Makkin Murda. In 2011, he released the mixtapes High-Class Street Music’ and ‘Hight Class Street Music 2’. With these two mixtapes, Young Dolph began developing his rap flow to a personal style described as “Vociferous” with a “magnetic delivery and uniquely deep voice”.

In 2012, Young Dolph again came up with two mixtapes, one is ‘A Time 2 Kill’ on April 12, inspired by a 1996 American legal drama film of the same name, and ‘Blue Magic’ on November 14, inspired by American Gangster, a 2007 American biographical crime film directed and produced by Ridley Scott and written by Steven Zaillian. Young Dolph released a lot more mixtapes in collaboration with many other rappers.

How Did Young Dolph Die?

Young Dolph died when he was only 36 years old. The reason behind Young Dolph’s death was gunshot wounds. The gunshot wounds were on his head, neck, and torse, as per the autopsy reports released by the Medical Examiner in Tennessee on the 16th of March. It was mentioned homicide in the manner of death. It was also revealed that the rapper suffered around 22 gunshot wounds in his body before he died. While his visit to Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies, which is a bakery he frequently went to whenever he was back home, he was fatally shot by two gunmen. These gunmen came in a white two-door Mercedes-Benz and gunned him down.

Hundreds of people crowded the crime scene and the police had to take charge to prevent the individuals from entering the crime zone while the investigation was going on. The Tennessee House of Representatives (the lower house of the Tennessee General Assembly, the state legislature of the U. S. state of Tennessee) London Lamar and Memphis Councilman J. B. Smiley called for a curfew in that area to prevent any disturbance between the civils and any kind of violence.

Three days after Young Dolph was murdered. The police found the white Mercedes by which the two gunmen came to shoot Young Dolph. It was discovered that the automobile had been stolen from a gas station in East Memphis just a week before. The Police of Covington revealed that that car was used in another murder just five days before it drove the gunmen to Young Dolph. Again after 9 days of the investigation, that is on the 9th of December, the Police arrested the person they suspected of being involved in the murder case of Young Dolph. It was Cornelius Smith.

After this on the 5th of January 2022, the police of Memphis announced a first-degree murder charge warrant for Justin Johnson. The U. S. Marshals captured Justin Johnson in Indiana six days later and made an official announcement Cornelius Smith was the second suspect.
